Hi there, my name is Leslie. It’s nice to meet you!
Who am I? Professionally, I’m a senior editor, content writer, and marketer. (Check out my portfolio.) Personally, I’m a pop culture enthusiast, singer-songwriter, poet, animal lover, and natural health advocate living in Nashville, Tenn.
As a published journalist and editor since 1999 and a content writer in various marketing roles since 2005, I have interviewed and successfully promoted people from all walks of life – from musicians Tori Amos and Debbie Harry of Blondie to author Neil Gaiman, known for American Gods, to the firefighter who brought back several World Trade Center beams from New York City to build a 9/11 memorial in Indianapolis, Ind. – and many more.
Throughout my career in content writing and journalism, I have been published in more than 30 publications, reporting on a wide range of subjects, including art, music, health and beauty, nightlife, business, technology, travel, architecture, environmental issues, military stories, engineering, and interior design.
My interests include: blogging, songwriting, poetry, photography, healthy living, and roller derby.
I was born in the ’80s and grew up in the ’90s, so I have an affinity for nostalgic pop culture – from films like Back to the Future and Beetlejuice, to ‘80s New Wave and post-punk music from bands like Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, Tears for Fears, The Cure, Bauhaus, and Siouxsie and the Banshees. That’s why in my spare time, you can find me curating content for That 80s New Wave, a network of social media sites celebrating the greatest decade, the 1980s, including articles about ‘80s New Wave music, movies, fashion, home decor, and more. (Follow @That80sNewWave on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest.)
A love for music runs in my blood. I am currently the lead vocalist for God in Rehab, a Nashville-based industrial band. My former music projects include The Sweetest Condition, Irene & Reed and Burning Veda.
You can listen to my music for free on YouTube, including some unreleased songs on Musical Family Tree, and view my discography on Discogs.
I first put my passion for writing and music to work in 2005 when I published a goth-industrial music magazine called Echo Immortalis as my graduate school journalism project. That same self-driven motivation for creativity and success has propelled me throughout my career to many other adventures along the way.
I now work full-time for The Renew Co., LLC, in Franklin, Tenn., for which I am the Senior Editor for Natural Healthy Concepts. Check out some of my natural health blogs here!
What can I say? Writing + Music + Health = A Happy Life!
I am available for freelance work or consultation and welcome email messages, and Tweets. Questions? Contact me.
