Your arms fold around me,
lotus petals holding their core;
entwined, spiritual origami.
From your azure gaze
to the glint in mine,
so much is said
without words.

Then you speak of home —
memories of your spot by the creek,
your rooftop retreat, and
I think of Ohio —
Woodland meditations;
how I’d like to take your hand
and lead you past
where the dead lay peacefully.

You describe heartache, youth
and a revelation —
a moment of clarity
only nature could provide,
and I think of
waking beside you,
lotus petals around their core,
before dawn —
just to see your blue sunrise.
