Blesséd Are…

Blesséd are the huddled masses
praying in their bomb shelters
for peace and white rain
from ashes and ruin

Blesséd are those tender
charcoal cinders and
scattered shrouded spirits
mourning on the hillside
chanting in circles
around bonfires of black smoke
in between dawn and dusk

Blesséd are the waterprint images
fading to gray
blinded by the red sun horizon
hiding behind the mountains
like ash awaiting melting rain
